Duncrest Motorworks rebuilds classic Land Cruisers and Defenders for people who mean to drive them. The FJ40, the FJ60, the 70 Series, the classic Series and the Defender began as working vehicles, and they earned their names by being used. A rebuild that turns one into an ornament misses what it was for.
So a Signature Build starts at the structure. The body and chassis come apart and are restored, corrosion proofed and strengthened. The powertrain becomes a modern crate engine or a full electric conversion, whichever you choose. Suspension, steering and brakes come up to today's expectations, and the modern seats, climate control and sound insulation never break the period look.
Around those five sits a rotating portfolio of other icons, from C10 and F-100 pickups to the classic Bronco, the 240Z, the air cooled VW Bus and Beetle and the classic Mustang. They show range. They aren't a catalog.
Most people meet a Duncrest build at a trailhead, a ski lot or a fuel stop, which is where it belongs.

A classic 4x4 arrives with a long history, and most of it was never written down. Duncrest writes the rebuild down. Every build is commissioned to order, never taken from stock, and documented VIN by VIN, so the work stays attached to the number that has identified the vehicle since it was built. Years from now a mechanic, an insurer or the next owner can read what was done instead of guessing from the paint.
The shop that builds it also services it for the life of the vehicle, as paid ongoing work, so the people reading that record at the next service are usually the people who wrote it.

Duncrest is independent and not affiliated with any manufacturer. Toyota built the Land Cruisers and Land Rover built the Series and the Defender. Here their names describe the vehicles and nothing more, and no factory badge is used as a Duncrest mark.
